when an international Travel Insurance company wanted a Case Management system, they turned to Vedas. We helped design a very flexible data driven system that will not only cater to their current needs but also adapt to any future requirements.The system allows for assigning different cases to different case Managers based on their unique skills. Tracks various data points for unique cases like Air lifting for medical emergencies, repatriation of remains and other medical emergencies. Integrated to the system is an eleborate note taking system with built in emailing to concerned people about the progress of the case.Numerous statistical reports on caseType and usage of services by various Insurance companies that are clients are provided as well.The system is built on MS SQL server with replication and C# with Windows and Web client software.

When one of the biggest provider of Mental health services needed a EHR system, Vedas was chosen to develop it. We came up with a unique design that could quickly duplicate the base documentation and Client and case tracking modules to any of their numerous exiting and new services as separate modules. This allowed them to keep expanding their offerings while at the same time keeping close track of Patient care and progress.The N-tier system was developed in C# with MS SQL Server with 200+ Healthcare documents and equal number of screens with thousands of data points, supporting close to a 1000 users in about 100 facilities.

This system is used in over 80 communities to track all real properties of Businesses and calculate depreciation and property tax based on various community specific calculations.

Though originally developed in VFP, the system has evolved into a hosted Cloud based model that is extremely flexible and easy to set up and train any community.

It is now based on MS SQL Server and written in C# with MVC architecture.

Marmon Utilities turned to Vedas to expose their inventory from their in-house ERP system to the web for Contractors to quickly place orders when they need Power cables and accessories. It has automated data transfers from the ERP system to the eCommerce site and take orders from eCommerce site to the ERP.

The system exceeded their Sales expectations and has been enhanced and updated from ASP to ASP.NET to now MVC technology with SQL back-end.

Hendrix wire and Cable needed a very sophisticated system to design, track and service Arial cabling systems. Instead of they manufacturing just cables, they wanted to provide turn key design, installation and ongoing preventive maintenance packages to power utilties and other developers. This system provides all the above capabilities and more.

It is a cloud based system with enormous potential with varied users and user rights.

A major Finacial company had a unique invoicing requirement to generate complex invoices automatically based on information feeds from major Mutual fund companies like Fidelity etc. They needed to not only invoice for various 401K and other services they offered to their Clients and their employees, they also needed to specify which accounts to tap for these fees to come from.

Such a complex system with custom billing Frequencies for each account, interfacing with their CRM system and several other internal data feeds was built in record time.

Description of Project

We helped an innovative startup that was formed by entrepreneurs with experience in Marketing and Technology. Their vision was to create a device that would allow billboards to come alive, that is, the billboards would have a way to interact with the reader through creative technology. The product is used in Airports, Hotels, College Campuses, Health Care facilities, and Trade Show expositions, not only as an interactive billboard, but also as a remote network access point for handheld computer users. A user has the ability to download promotional literature, city guides, AvantGo channels, and other selected content, as well as full two-way email communication and integration with their personal email.

What was needed

The initial vision was for an access portal that allowed a user to beam their hand held device through infrared to an embedded computer which was connected to a server via a network. A prototype was built utilizing Windows CE connecting to an NT server, and that provided proof of concept necessary to obtain venture funding.

What was utilized

The actual production unit provided numerous challenges, as the goal was to provide an affordable solution that was able to be implemented virtually anywhere. The first step was to develop the hardware, which we were able to do by outsourcing the design and production to a company in Israel. They produced a credit-card sized computer with a Pentium processor that accessed the necessary software off of an eprom chip. The next challenge was the operating system. While Windows CE was used for the prototype, the actual production cost would have been doubled due to licensing costs, so we opted to use embedded Linux as the OS, as there were no associated fees. We stripped the kernel down to just the components necessary to run the application, and the communications drivers. We found that there were no available drivers for Linux to Palm IR, so we wrote the drivers, which have since been adopted as a Linux standard. On the other end we implemented an Ethernet connection as well as a wireless connection (WAP) so the access device could be placed anywhere, regardless of the availability of a wired network connection.

Description of Project

Since 1986, this Client has provided Inter-Laboratory Statistical Service (“ISS”) to both hospitals and OEM customers as part of their quality control manufacturing business. Recently, they made a significant investment to modernize its ISS capabilities through incorporation of an internet based database.

What was needed

They needed a state of the art relational database with customized input and output modules. The purpose was to offer enhanced capability to all diagnostic firms that supply controls to hospitals where the hospital must report statistical data to meet regulatory requirements.

What was utilized

Vedas designed a browser based database that users access over a secure, authenticated environment. The database was designed using Microsoft SQL Server, with additional components from the Microsoft DNA architecture.

Major Benefits

Complete flexibility with respect to input data format from the hospital, including Levy Jennings charts, summary data instrument print outs and electronic transfer. Clear, well presented reports (one report for each instrument) in a choice of formats including mailed hard copies, computer-generated fax and electronic transfer. Full internet capability for on-line, real-time entry of either individual data points or summary data. Reports including peer group data are instantly available to the hospital.

This client specializes in managing executive relocation for major businesses around the world. Unfortunately, it lacked a wide-ranging tool necessary to track and monitor every stage of the relocation process.

What was needed?

The system that this client was looking for would keep track more than 1,000 data elements–one that could be accessed by their local and remote sites with the least amount of change to their client’s PC environment.

The Solution

Specifically, they needed a system that would:

Permit an unlimited number of client companies.Track divisions within each company.Allow unlimited tiers in each division that employees could belong to.Allow unlimited items authorized by the company on each tier Track as many transferees, and as many individual moves by each transferee, as needed . Handle an unlimited number of services that may be offered to the transferees, such as selling and buying houses, language training, permanent storage, claims, moving of cars, boats, pets and more. Keep a date template to be used to track pack, load and deliver dates for any relocation. Provide an activity/to-do/notes system that would be an integral part in organizing and scheduling individual tasks. Handle international relocations with minimal changes to security. Contain lookup tables and data validations sourced by system tables and templates.

Major Challenges

Upon the initiation of the project, DHTML was in its infancy. We decided to develop the tools and business logic to put all the pieces of this n-tier based application together. We did a major portion of the development on initial beta versions of IE 4.0 and MS SQL server 7.0. We encountered some unpredictable results due to the beta versions. Nevertheless, we overcame those challenges by writing the tools ourselves.

A comprehensive, Web-enabled, rental/retail system was designed for our Client, the Formal Wear chain of 45 stores in New England. They were in the market to replace its old system with one that would allow all stores to have instant access to current inventory information at all times. They needed a solution that would avoid a dedicated network between the stores, reduce client installation at the remote sites and minimize store network maintenance.Numerous solutions running on AS/400 and other similar environments were considered. Our solution was chosen in view of the immediate benefits of the features, reduced infrastructure and client roll-out costs.

The System

The system we created provides POS functionality to all stores, complete bar-coded inventory tracking and handling in the warehouse, accounts receivable and PO system for the accounting and purchase departments. It includes complete employee ID card-based security and employee time sheet and HR features.

Results

This system met and exceeded all expectations of our client. As a browser-based solution, it allowed for instant and low bandwidth access to their online database. This ability, coupled with low maintenance, low client setup costs and reduced labor needs, considerably increased productivity and revenue at Mr. Tux. Our solution was implemented ahead of schedule thanks to our tested and proven method of interactive development. The system has been so successful that numerous chains across the country have opted to implement it over traditional AS/400 and other platform solutions.
